Casa Bella Reviews

Anniversary Trip - Romantic
"We loved watching the sun rise from the hot tub many mornings, then, cooling off in the pool later while looking out to the ocean. On the beach watched crabs pop into their holes or scuttle away from us which was fabulously funny. The house was gorgeous, very comfortable, includes wonderful art, and my husband loved cooking on the Wolf stove and using the well laid out kitchen. We didn’t want to leave."

Fantastic Cabo Experience
"Our rental of Casa Bella was ideal. The service leading up to and during our stay was exceptionally responsive and helpful. The home was clean and well appointed with everything we required. It was safe and located ideally between San Jose and Cabo San Lucas. Great experience!"

Best Place Ever
"The home was absolutely stunning… the view was incredible. The service was excellent. We lost our keys and our concierge went out of his way to bring us a new set very late at night. It was a perfect vacation. Great location – quiet – SAFE- and close to everything."

4th in Cabo
"This property is amazing! It was a great experience!"

Incredible
"We rented 3 Villas in Los Cabos at once for the buildup week to our wedding, staying at Casa Bella, Villa Serena and Amanda. Incredibly beautiful and serene, would recommend to anyone!"

Beautiful Casa Bella
"Our stay at Casa Bella was wonderful! With a rental car, we were able to travel to Cabo San Lucas, and San Jose del Cabo very easily. The house and property were beautiful & private with stunning views. We were able to watch whales from the deck & it was great to beach comb at the large private beach. The Lifestyle people were fantastic, from drivers & housekeeping to concierge. The recommended chef and restaurants were great! It was overall a very wonderful stay, at a beautiful villa!"

Casa Bella
"Unbelievable home with amazing views! We loved the very private beach. Lifestyle Villas did a fantastic job with all the details for our trip….from airpot transfers, to our concierge Daniel, and our housekeeper Sonja….nothing was overlooked!"

Beautiful Villa - Great Setup, Awesome Beach Access
"Overall, we had a wonderful time at Casa Bella. The main villa is very nicely appointed, and the private sandy beach just a few minutes walk away was amazing! Lots of great common space to eat and play games, overall – a really great long weekend. The pool deck area had great views and overall it was really a perfect setup for group trip, we LOVED it! Additionally, the pre-trip planning was incredibly thorough and Rosa was very helpful.A few misses:1) The ice machine was broken- we were told it was just “turning on” but it never produced ice, so we had to get more delivered from the store2) While Hector was very nice, he wasn’t very available during our stay. We asked for an additional set of groceries once we got to the villa, and ended up never getting the extra groceries. We asked him to arrange a taxi for us and it arrived 15 minutes late and overcharged us.3) The initial grocery stock was nice, however we were stocked with some pretty bad wine that we didn’t ask for and didn’t drink for but unfortunately had to pay for4) The 5th bedroom is separated from the rest of the house, and is essentially an offshoot of the garage. It doesn’t have much natural light, just something to note."

Casa Bella and your Lifestyle Team await you! Carnaval de La Paz y Cabo San Lucas

While Carnaval was originally established in Europe in the middle ages, the celebration came to Mexico with the Spanish during the colonial period. Still celebrated today, this festival will be held from February 4 to February 9, 2016. Let's take a look at the history of this popular festival and how it's celebrated in Mexico today!

History of Carnaval in Mexico

Carnaval was widely accepted  in Mexico for the fact that it coincided with various indigenous festivals, such as Nemontemi for hte Nahaur and Cabik for the Mayas, both of which refer to the "lost days" of the Mesoamerican calendar. During both festivals, faces were covered to repel of confuse evil. It's popularity continuted because it was one time when normal rules could be broken, especially with the use of masks to hide identities from the authorities. In the 18th century, the crown made a concerted effort to suppress the excesses of carnaval, banning the wearing of masks. Public celebrations of Carnaval waned in the 19th century after Mexico's independence and later Liberal movements discouraged it as an element of the country's colonial past. From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, the festival as a major public event has made something of a comeback in some areas.

Carnaval in Baja California

In total, Carnaval is significant in about 225 communities throughout Mexico. In the Baja California Peninsula, two main Carnaval celebrations occur in Ensenada and La Paz. The Ensenada Carnaval extends over 6 days and consists of the burning or condemning of an effigy called "mal humor" or bad mood, dances, parades with floats, a royal court and more. Festivities go on until the early morning hours except on Tuesday when Carnaval ends. It is one of the most important tourist events in northwestern Mexico. It attracts about 300,000 visitors each year. The modern La Paz Carnaval began in 1898, making it one of the oldest in the country. Before that, celebration of Carnaval was limited to formal affairs at the houses of the rich.

2016 Carnaval La Paz

This year's theme is "Las Muses de Alegria" or "The Muses of Joy." If you're expecting bead tossing and drunken debauchery, it's not that kind of Carnaval. It is a family event with more modest parades, food booths and cultural events. In addition, there are several stages featuring various musical acts from around Mexico. While this video is in Spanish, it demonstrates everything that you can expect at Carnaval La Paz in 2016:

5 Tips for Packing Your Carry-On Bag

You may think traveling is stressful, but it doesn't have to be! There are things you can do to make both packing and getting through the airport easier. If you're going to be gone for a week or less, you can save both time and money by only packing a carry-on. The Travel Channel has a few great carry-on packing tips in this video - and Lifestyle Villas has added a few more of our own!

How to Pack a Carry-On Bag

Tip #1 - Pick the Right Bag

While you might think that giant rolling sparkly bag would go great with your favorite travel outfit, the airlines might not agree. Before you go out and buy the first bag you like, check with your airline to make sure your bag fits the dimension requirements. You don't want to end up having to pay for a checked bag at the airport because your carry-on is too large.

Tip #2 - Make a Packing List

Just like when going to the grocery store, it's important to have a list for two main reasons: 1. So you don't pack to much and 2. So you don't forget anything. Make a list of the things you absolutely need to take with you. Pay special attention to the word "need" in that last sentence. Don't take that cute new pair of heels you just bought just because. Make sure you take practical things that you know you will use - your carry-on space is limited.

Tip #3 - Wear Your Heaviest & Largest Items

To free up some room in your bag, you should wear your heaviest and largest items. If you are taking boots, tennis shoes and flipflop with you, then you'll want to wear your boots as they would take up the most room in a bag. Same goes for a hoodie or coat - even it's warm where you are and cold in your destination, go ahead and put it on to save room. You can always take it off once you get on the plane if you get too warm.

Tip #4 - Roll Your Clothes

Rather than folding your clothes, try rolling them. Tightly rolled clothes take up less space than folded ones do. Plus, they're less likely to get winkles and fold creases this way. Another great way to save space in your bag is to stuff socks and other small items inside your shoes. Make the most of the space that you have by filling in any and all open spaces, no matter how small.

Tip #5 - Downsize Everything

Less is more when it comes to packing. We mentioned earlier when you were making your list to only bring the essentials. Now let's see if we can reduce the amount of essentials you need. You can easily wear a pair of pants more than once, unless you plan on going mudding of course. Stick to one color scheme if you can so you don't have to worry about bringing something to match with crazy colored clothing. In addition to downsizing your clothes, downsize your liquids, make-up etc. Most airlines have restrictions on the amount of liquid you can bring on board, limiting each item to 3 oz.

For more carry-on packing tips and ideas, check out our Pinterest Board!

It's easy to pack light when you're headed on a Los Cabos vacation. All you need is your bathing suit, sunglasses and flip-flops! Okay, so you may need a few more items than that, but with these tips, packing your carry-on should be a breeze. See you soon in one of our beachfront villas in Los Cabos, Mexico!

Experience Mexican Cuisine in Los Cabos

When you travel to a new country, it's all about the experience. Aside from the sightseeing and relaxing on the beach, you'll want to experience the traditional Mexican cuisine while you're on vacation in Los Cabos. Let's take a little deeper look into Mexican food around the country and in Los Cabos in particular.

Mexican Cuisine

Mexican food is one of the most versatile and varied cuisines in the world. It has a history of incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables with local wild game. White corn, beans, squash, tomatoes and chiles are staple ingredients in the foundation of authentic Mexican cuisine. Lovers of Mexican food enjoy its flavorful kick. Fresh aromatic ingredients and colorful presentation make for added enjoyment.

Dishes Across the Region

Each region in Mexico has its own take on Mexican cuisine. While meat dishes are more popular in the north, vegetable and chicken dishes are common in the south. Communities along the sea, like Los Cabos, enjoy a lot of seafood dishes. Fish like grouper, red snapper, mojarra and snook, as well as lobster, crab and oysters are abundant. Common dishes, such as tacos and tamales, will taste different all over the country, as each region gives the meal a special touch.

Fine Dining in Los Cabos

Whether under the stars with a full view of one of the most beautiful bays in the world or right on the beach, dining in Los Cabos is one of the most memorable experiences you will encounter. There are hundreds of dining options, with all styles of food, vistas and venues. However, if you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, Lifestyle Villas has the perfect recommendations for you!

Restaurant Edith's - Edith's is a vivid combination of the cuisine of Baja California with a Guerrero flair, featuring a regional fusion of steaks and seafood with local ingredients. The restaurant also offers a privileged view of Medano Beach and the world famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas.

The Office - The Office on the beach is, as always, the place for breakfast, lunch or dinner Cabo-style. Here you can enjoy classical toes-in-the-sand elegance year-round. The 16-ounce Office Margaritas are almost as famous as its traditional Mexican kitchen and fresh local fish and seafood.

La Golondrina - Dine under the stars at Cabo's premier restaurant featuring fresh local seafood, steaks and authentic Mexican cuisine. La Golondrina Restaurant is famous for huge portioning of perfectly grilled fresh lobster, decadent preparations of fresh grilled fish, jumbo prawns and fresh sea scallops.
