The water supply comes from our area mountains and filters through natural sand beds before entering the modern aqueduct for distribution. We still recommend drinking bottled water as the taste is more familiar to you.

9. Can I use my cell phone in Los Cabos? 

A: Most mobile phone providers offer coverage in Los Cabos, typically for an additional fee. We recommend checking with your carrier before you travel to verify both coverage and fees.

10. Are American dollars accepted in Los Cabos or do I need pesos? 

A: American dollars are widely accepted in the Los Cabos area. You can also easily exchange currency at the airport, hotel or any bank. We recommend keeping your money in dollars and exchanging it only as needed. This will warm up your body and prepare you for the Mexican Ritual. With the use of fresh herbs, aromatherapy oil and fresh mango/papaya paste to exfoliate, you'll feel re-energized and improve your circulation. To complete this ritual, enjoy a 60-minute traditional Mexican massage using only the healing indigenous techniques. We recommend that you rest an extra 10 minutes on completion of the ritual.

Grito de Dolores: Mexico's Independence

Since the late 19th century, Mexico has celebrated its independence on September 16. The celebration includes parades, festivals, feasts, parties, dancing, bullfights, rodeos and more! Many non-Mexicans, particularly in the United States, mistake Cinco de Mayo for a celebration of Mexican independence. Lifestyle Villas is here to set the record straight and tell you a little more about Grito de Dolores, Mexico's Independence Day!

Mexican War of Independence

September 16, 1810 marked the beginning of Mexico's struggle for independence. Napoleon's invasion of Spain from 1808 to 1813 heightened the revolutionary fervor in Mexico and other Spanish colonies. On September 16, 1810, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a respected Catholic priest issued a passionate cry known as the "Grito de Dolores" (Cry of Dolores), that amounted to the declaration of war against the colonial government. It called for the end of Spanish rule in Mexico, the redistribution of land and racial equality. Known as the Mexican War of Independence, the conflict continued until 1821, when the Treaty of Córdoba established Mexico as an independent constitutional monarchy under Augustín de Iturbide. Just 18 months later, Antonio López de Santa Anna and Guadalupe Victoria ousted the emperor and established the first Mexican Republic.

Mexican Independence Day Traditions

Today, the celebrations of Mexican independence begin on the night of September 15 and carries over to the next day.

1. On September 15 around 11:00 PM, the President of Mexico rings the bell of the National Palace in Mexico City. He then shouts "a Grito Mexicano" based upon the "Grito de Dolores" with the names of the important heroes of the Mexican War of Independence. It ends with " ¡Viva México!" The bell is then rung again and the Flag of Mexico is waved, followed by the singing of the "Himno Nacional Mexicano" (the national anthem).

2. On September 16, Mexico's Independence Day, the national military parade takes place in Mexico City. Similar celebrations occur in cities and towns all over Mexico and in Mexican embassies and consulates worldwide.

3. In the 19th century, it became common practice for Mexican presidents in their final year in office to re-enact the Grito in the city of Dolores Hidalgo, rather than in the National Palace.

4. September 16 is marked by parades, patriotic programs, band competitions and special programs on the national and local media outlets.

Los Cabos Villa Rental FAQs

Booking a place to stay in Los Cabos can be a little unnerving. Even if you weren't staying in a foreign country, you'd still want to know the policies before signing a rental agreement. At Lifestyle Villas, we make it easy, with nice color pictures of our villas, as well as information on everything you need to know about the property and the area you'll be staying. Check out some of our most commonly asked questions about our villa rentals below.

1. What is the maximum occupancy per villa? 

A: The maximum occupancy for a specific villa is 2 more than the number specified in villa features. An additional cost per extra person applies.

2. Is there an additional charge for an extra person? Extra bed? Crib? High Chair? Baby Car Seat? 

A: If the villa occupancy is exceeded, there will be an extra charge of $75 USD per person, per night. No more than 2 additional persons is allowed. There are no extra charges for an extra bed, a crib, a high chair or a baby car seat.

3. Do you provide driving directions for the villas? 

A: Yes, please contact your Destination Specialist for driving directions to your specific villa.

4. Do you offer handicapped facilities? 

A: Yes, Casa Stamm has recently been remodeled in order to accommodate the special needs of our handicapped guests.

5. Is there wireless internet in the villa? 

A: Yes, every villa is equipped with a high-speed internet connection.

6. Is the pool in the villa heated? 

A: Yes, our villa pools are heated.

7. Can I have a cook in the villa? 

A: Yes, we offer cook and chef services upon request.

8. Are there safes in the villas? 

A: Yes, there are safes in the both master & junior bedrooms. Your concierge will indicate the box location and instructions at check-in.

9. Is there a first aid kit in the house? 

A: Yes, each villa has a first aid kit located in the kitchen.

10. Can I plug my iPod into the sound system? 

A: Yes, you can plug your device into the home's sound system.

11. Does the house have table games? 

A: Yes it does.

12. Are pets allowed in the villas? 

A: Casa Stamm is our pet-friendly villa. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in any of the other villas.

13. Is the beach safe for swimming? 

A: The majority of our villas are located on swimmable beaches. However, this can vary by season, so please confirm with your personal concierge at check-in.

14. Do you offer long-term rentals?

15. Can your villas be rented out for special events? 

A: Yes, we have several villas that are suitable for events including:

• Villa La Roca
• Villa Serena
• Casa Stamm
• Villa Agave Azul
• Casa Bella

16. What are the restrictions and policies related to special events? 

A: Each villa has different policies regarding amplified music, fireworks, etc. and should be followed as indicated in the rental agreement. Basic policies include: 

• 2 Nights minimum stay.
• All vendors involved with the function must be approved by Lifestyle Villas.
• All flatware, china, dishes and glassware for the wedding, party or function must be rented or provided by your cater and must also do all cleanup after the event.
• An advanced deposit (50%) is due at the moment of signing the Rental Agreement.
• Final Payment (50%) is due 60 days prior to the arrival date.
• Security deposit is equal to one night rent, refundable 1-2 weeks.
• Any changes or cancellations made less than 45 days prior to the arrival date are refundable if the villa is re-rented, subject to a 10% administration fee.
• Parking and road space limited. Please arrange shuttle services.

17. What is the maximum number of guests per event? 

A: The number varies according to the dimensions of the villa, but cannot exceed 80 guests. 

18. Can we use our wedding coordinator and their services in your villa? 

A: Yes you may. 

19. What is the distance from the villa to nightlife, shopping and the airport? 

A: Nightlife & shopping is about 10-20 minutes driving distance from the villas. From Medano Beach, nightlife and shopping is within walking distance. The airport is about 30-60 minutes driving distance from the villas.
